Working in the field of Ecology, I investigate how temperature modulates nutrient acquisition and feeding preferences in aquatic omnivorous ectotherms, framing the issue on Climate Change, Invasive Alien Species and Urban Heat Islands.

I was born in Alcobaça (Portugal), on the 20th of September, 1987.

In 2008, I obtained a B.Sc. in Biology, specializing in Environmental Biology - Terrestrial Domain.

In 2010, I obtained a M.Sc. in Conservation Biology, in which I examined the consumptive and non-consumptive impacts of the invasive alien crayfish Procambarus clarkii on the community of macrophytes from Mediterranean temporary ponds, under the supervision of Dr. Rui Rebelo.
In 2011, I worked shortly as a research assistant, taking part in the eradication campaign of the invasive Xenopus laevis in Oeiras (Portugal).

In 2016, I obtained a Ph.D. in Biology, speciality in Ecology. Under the supervision of Dr. Rui Rebelo (University of Lisbon, Portugal) and Dr. Anssi Laurila (Uppsala University, Sweden), I studied heat waves and dietary shifts in omnivorous ectotherms, using model organisms from Mediterranean temporary ponds - anuran larvae, crayfish and gastropods.
In 2017, I conducted a short-term postdoc (cE3c), examining the ecological impacts of invasive Xenopus laevis, under the supervision of Dr. Rui Rebelo.

In 2018-2019, I joined the Laboratory of Ecology of Aquatic Insects and Relict Ecosystems, where I conducted a postdoc (SOWA Research Infrastructure), working under the supervision of Dr. David Boukal. Here, I greatly expanded the scope of my research, investigating: 1) the role of ontogeny on temperature-induced dietary shifts, 2) the effects of urban heat islands on ectotherm feeding preferences and bromeliad communities, and 3) the communities of macroinvertebrates in human-made post-industrial environments.

Starting in 2020, I am working as a Junior Researcher (6-year position) in the Invasion Ecology group of cE3c, at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Lisboa, Portugal), financed by the Stimulus of Scientific Employment, Individual Support 2018 - FCT. During this time, I aim to investigate the underlying mechanisms responsible for temperature-induced dietary shifts, using populations of species distributed along large-scale temperature gradients.
